Farm to Family: Fibre Workshop

Where does your jumper, your clothes, your bag, your hat come from? Join us for an interactive hands-on sustainability workshop exploring the journey of Wool, Bamboo, Cotton & Reeds through Play, Creativity & Discovery.

Hands-on activities include:
Weave reeds & raffia
Paint cotton tote bag
Build bamboo bee hotel
Spin a woolly yarn

HASS curriculum: Food and Fibre Production.

Sustainability and Natural Fibres: Exploring how natural fibres such as wool, bamboo, cotton and raffia are grown, harvested and transformed into everyday products.

Cultural Identity and Inclusion: Recognising that fibres are connected to culture, Country and community. Exploring how different cultures, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, have traditionally used natural fibres.

Inquiry and Wellbeing: Using fibre-based experiences to support sensory exploration, scientific inquiry, creativity and systems thinking, through hands-on, child led activities.
