Planning for Sustainability in Early Years Settings
2.5 hours
This NEW workshop from Little Green Steps WA will provide EY Teachers, Service Directors and Sustainability Coordinators with a step by step framework for creating a Sustainability Actions Plan for their setting.
We will share tips for getting started, sustainable actions to plan for and information on what the Education and Care Regulatory Unit is seeking to observe in your sustainable practices. Best practice models will also be viewed. The highlight will be a guided action planning session using LGSWA Sustainable audit sheets.

Day-To-Day Sustainability in the Early Years Settings
4.5 hours
This is a great general introduction to sustainability that provides a solid foundation for anyone working in the early years settings with practical, real life examples on how to begin, or continue to embed sustainability in your service. With a holistic approach, the workshop introduces the Sustainable Schools WA framework to sustainability, waste solutions relative to your local area, green cleaning and connecting children with the outdoors.
This workshop is 4.5 hours and is recommended for most centres as the first workshop. It goes through an introduction to what sustainability means in an Early Learning service and how it fits in with the NQS, EYLF and Australian Curriculum.
This workshop can be run in one session, or over 2 nights to meet the needs of certain services. Please note that there will be limited availability for workshops run over 2 nights, and participants must attend both nights.

Introduction to Sustainability
1.5 - 2 hours
Introduction to Sustainability is designed as an overview to what ‘sustainability’ means. This shorter workshop will encourage to you think about what you already do in your practice and how you can practically move forward with embedding sustainability in your practice. You will be introduced to the Sustainable Schools WA framework and how it can assist you towards making your service more sustainable in a holistic approach. By understanding what sustainability means in the early years, you will learn about and how it fits into the EYLF, NQS and Australian Curriculum.
It is recommended you book one of the future shorter workshops in addition to this one for more specific topics and activities.

Cultural and Social Diversity
LGS WA has joined forces with the One World Centre and is offering a new workshop on 'culture', how it fits in with sustainability, EYLF, NQS and the Australian Curriculum. This is an interactive workshop that is sure to get you thinking a little differently.

Reducing Waste Together
This workshop has you hands-on learning about all this waste. Which item goes into which bin? It is tailored to your local area as every city has different waste management. Whenever possible we try to bring in a guest speaker from your local government. Referencing to how this works in with the NQS, EYLF and AuSSI framework, you would be surprised at how this topic will excite you and your staff!

Conserving and Protecting Water in the Early Years
2 hours
Join Little Green Steps to learn about water in WA, where it comes from, where it goes and how we use it. This curriculum linked workshop will provide educators with hands-on ways to teach young children waterwise practices and addresses the reasons for conserving and protecting our waterways and fresh water in existence on this planet right now and for future generations. There will also be a planning strategies sessions to help early years services to be more waterwise.

Healthy Options, Healthy Environments - Embedding Energy, Air and Transport Sustainability into Early Years Settings
This workshop explores the importance of addressing sustainable energy, air and transport practices into early years services with practical information to save on bills and resources. Hands-on curriculum linked activities will help educators embed practices into children’s everyday routines and this workshop will explore how to tap into energy audits and plan for infrastucture changes which benefit the early years community.
