Cockburn offers many community learning opportunities in the sustainability space for early years educators and families to take up so make sure your Early Years are part of the solution. Here are a few ideas:

  • Teddy Bears Picnic is on once more at Manning Park on Wed 19th October from 10 am, and is an ideal Family Day Care event for engaging your 0-5 year olds in sustainable fun - LGS will be hosting a stall of sustainable fun for kids, so come say hello.
  • Be body guards for nesting turtles who are out and about looking for nesting sites this time of year. Citizen science is available to us all, so download the Turtle Sat app and register your sightings and learn more about what to do here.
  • Take your parents on a wildflower walk at the Roe 8 rehabilitation site off Malvolio road in Coolbelup and help eradicate weeds on the way - join the great Glady Grab and wildflower walk on October 15th from 9am.
  • Learn how to look after worms at a Cockburn subsidised workshop which EY educators can attend on October 26th 2022. register here.

Meanwhile our LGS Educator, Belinda based in the City of Cockburn is full of great ideas and keen to support EY educators with visits, information and activities for kids. She is running a hands-on waste audit for  EY services on November 11th at Sparrow Early learning so join Belinda from LGS and the Cockburn Early Years Sustainability Network to get involved.
